The five charges a forwarder cannot fix in the quote
Overweight, demurrage and detention, inspections, fuel, and currency, and why they damage trust when they arrive as a surprise.
What the five are
Overweight happens when the cargo is heavier than the booking. Demurrage and detention are the cost of a box that stays past its free days in the terminal or outside it. An inspection is ordered by customs or another authority. Fuel surcharge follows the carrier's bunker formula. Currency conversion changes local charges when the invoice is not in euros. The forwarder does not set these. The forwarder still has to explain them.
Why they cost more than the money
The client reads a late charge as a hidden fee. The desk spends hours collecting evidence. Sometimes the forwarder absorbs the amount to keep the client, and quotes the next one with a longer list of exclusions. Naming the five at the moment of the quote does not remove them. It stops them from arriving as a surprise.
Can the tool promise these will not happen?
No. It shows the signals it can actually read, and it labels anything it cannot read as not available.
